INTRODUCTION STORY — “The Soldier’s Surrender”
Let’s begin with a story that illustrates the heart of today’s message.
A young man enlisted in the army—wide-eyed, full of excitement, …ambition, and dreams of valor. He imagined glory, medals, and pride-filled moments of victory. But those illusions quickly began to fade the moment he entered boot camp. The long, grueling days of training, the harsh commands, the strict regimen, and the constant pressure began to break his pride.
Each day he pushed himself harder—running faster, shouting louder, executing orders with intensity. But no matter how hard he tried, the drill sergeant remained unmoved. Day after day, the young soldier felt defeated. Finally, in frustration and exhaustion, he snapped. He stood up in the middle of training, sweat pouring down his face, eyes red from weariness, and shouted, “Sir, I’m doing my best!”

The sergeant, without hesitation, stormed up to him, stared him in the eyes, and thundered, “Your best isn’t enough! I don’t want your best—I want all of you! Your whole self. Your thoughts, your will, your focus, your body, your mind. Total obedience. Total surrender. That’s the only way this works.”
That moment shook the young soldier to his core. It wasn’t about trying hard—it was about letting go of control. He realized that his personal standard wasn’t the military’s standard. The army wasn’t interested in effort without submission; it demanded ownership—a life fully yielded to authority and a mission beyond oneself.

And beloved, that’s exactly what God is saying to us today.
He’s not merely interested in your best intentions or sporadic acts of devotion. He’s not impressed by how busy you are in ministry, how passionate your worship sounds, or how many church activities you attend. God is calling for total surrender.

He’s saying, “I don’t just want your gifts—I want you. I don’t just want your church attendance—I want your heart. I don’t just want your service—I want your soul, your thoughts, your dreams, your decisions, your life.”
He is not pleased with partial obedience or conditional surrender. He desires total consecration—a life fully laid down on the altar.

In a world filled with divided loyalties, half-hearted Christianity, and believers who give God just enough to feel spiritual but not enough to be transformed—God is still searching for those who will say, with deep conviction and unwavering devotion:
“Yes Lord, I’m Yours Completely.”

Let this not just be a phrase we say—it must be the anthem of our lifestyle, the cry of our hearts, the posture of our souls.

And with that posture in mind, we now turn our hearts to God’s Word in Romans 12, where the Apostle Paul calls us not just to believe in Christ—but to belong to Him completely.

Let us begin tonight by turning our attention to a sobering moment in biblical history—the story of Noah and the …flood.

In Genesis 6, we read of a world saturated in wickedness. Humanity had turned away from God, suppressing truth and multiplying sin. Scripture says:

Genesis 6:5–6 (ESV) – “The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart.”

What followed was not a random disaster but righteous judgment. God’s wrath was revealed—not because He is cruel, but because He is holy. He declared a coming flood to cleanse the earth of corruption. But even in judgment, mercy appeared—God commanded Noah to build an ark, a vessel of escape.

Genesis 6:17–18 (ESV) – “For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh… But I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall come into the ark…”

The ark was not just a wooden boat—it was a symbol of salvation. Those inside it were saved from the wrath that fell upon the rest of the world. It was God’s provision of mercy amid judgment.

Why begin with Noah?
Because in the same way, the world today stands under divine judgment—not by water, but by wrath against sin. And just as God provided an ark then, He has now provided a greater ark—a living Savior, Jesus Christ. He is our refuge from the storm. He is the only safe place when the flood of judgment comes.

But now, the Apostle Paul takes us from the righteousness of God revealed in the gospel to the wrath of God revealed against sin. Why do we need salvation? From what are we saved? The answer is clear: the wrath of God.
Romans 1:18–32 is not just a critique of ancient immorality—it is a divine mirror for every age. It exposes our desperate need, but it also points to our only hope: Jesus Christ, the escape from divine wrath.

INTRODUCTION:
Brothers and sisters, let me ask you a simple question:
What’s holding you back?
What’s keeping you from going deeper in your walk with Christ?
What’s stopping you from stepping into your calling, your purpose, your freedom in Christ?

Let me begin with a story.
There was once a young eagle that had been raised among chickens. From the time it hatched, it was surrounded by birds that scratched at the dirt, flapped their wings just enough to jump a little, but never soared. That eagle lived like a chicken — it ate like a chicken, walked like a chicken, and thought like a chicken. But deep inside, something stirred.

There were moments when it looked up at the sky and saw other eagles soaring freely, and something in its heart whispered, “I was made for more.”

But every time it tried to spread its wings, fear crept in. “What if I fall? What if I fail? What if I was never meant to fly?”

So it stayed on the ground… wings folded, heart longing, potential trapped.
We’re not talking about the devil today — yes, he’s real and he fights us. But sometimes, it’s not the enemy — sometimes it’s the inner weights, the sins, the fears, the doubts, or the past wounds that are holding us back from running the race.

God did not call us to barely crawl through this Christian life. He called us to run with endurance — to be free, to walk in boldness, to live in purpose, and to be fruitful.

Let’s dive into the Word today and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal:
What’s holding you back — and how to break free.

Romans 1:16 boldly declares:
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”

This gospel is not theory—it is divine therapy. Not a philosophy, but a power. Not simply good advice, but God’s answer to man’s deepest crisis—sin, death, and demonic bondage.

Let me share a short story to illustrate this power:
There was a man in a small village who had spent years trapped in addiction. His family had given up hope. His body bore the scars of sin, and his soul was a prisoner of shame. One night, drunk and broken, he wandered into a church service. The preacher wasn’t eloquent—just faithful. He proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ: that God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son.

The man wept as he heard the message—not of condemnation, but of salvation. Right there on that old wooden bench, he cried out to Jesus. No altar call. No music. Just a heart desperate for escape—and a Savior ready to rescue. That night, he was set free. The addiction broke. The depression lifted. And today, that man stands as a minister of the very gospel that rescued him.

That’s what Paul means when he says the gospel is power. It’s not mere words—it’s deliverance. It’s not a religious ritual—it’s resurrection.

The gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ—God’s Son—came, lived, died, and rose again to become our eternal escape route. He did not come merely to inspire but to rescue. And He is still rescuing today.

Let every heart tonight be ignited, awakened, and realigned by the power of this gospel.

Let’s open our hearts today as we explore “The Precious Blood of Christ.” May this not just be a sermon—but a heart encounter with the One who bled to save you.

Point 1: The Blood of Christ is Incomparably Precious
1 Peter 1:18-19 – “You were ransomed… with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.”

Sub Point 1.1 – It Is Sinless Blood
Hebrews 4:15 – He was tempted in every way, yet without sin.
2 Corinthians 5:21 – He became sin so we might become righteous.
Every drop of Jesus’ blood was perfect. Not a trace of sin, not a hint of corruption. No other blood could cleanse us—only His.

Sub Point 1.2 – It Is Divine Blood
Matthew 1:20 – Conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Acts 20:28 – God purchased the church with His own blood.
It wasn’t just a man dying on the cross—it was God in flesh, bleeding divine life into our death.

Sub Point 1.3 – It Was Willingly Given
John 10:18 – “No one takes it from me… I lay it down.”
Romans 5:8 – While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
His blood was not spilled—it was poured out by choice. Love held Him there—not nails.

Illustration – Like a lifeguard who drowns so someone else might live, Jesus entered death to give us breath. His blood is the most valuable substance in all creation.

Introduction: When God Uses Underwear to Preach
Good Evening, Family Of God.
Have you ever had one of those moments when you look down at your laundry and …say, “Lord, is this really what my life has come to?” You see that one pair of underwear—yes, that pair—the one with the skid mark. And you think, “I should just throw this out… but it’s so comfortable.”

Well, guess what? God had a message for His people once, and He used a piece of underwear to preach it. That’s right. Jeremiah was called to preach a message about pride and sin using a ruined, filthy loincloth—a garment worn close to the body, kind of like your undergarments.

Today, I want to talk to you about what it means when God holds up your spiritual underwear and says, ‘Look at this mess!’—but also what it means when He says, ‘I can wash you clean!’

1. God’s Call to Jeremiah: Buy the Underwear (Verses 1-2)
“Thus says the Lord to me, ‘Go and buy a linen loincloth and put it around your waist, and do not dip it in water.’ So I bought a loincloth according to the word of the Lord, and put it around my waist.” (Jeremiah 13:1-2, ESV)
Imagine God telling you to buy underwear as part of a prophetic message. That’s exactly what happened to Jeremiah.

Why linen?
Linen was significant. It was:
Worn by priests (Exodus 28:39-42).
A symbol of purity.
Expensive and valuable.

God was making a point—Israel was supposed to be like this linen: holy, valuable, and clinging closely to Him.

Application:
God has called you to a special purpose. You were meant to be close to Him, not just another piece of fabric tossed into the world’s laundry pile.
Like clean linen, we were created to reflect God’s righteousness.
Are we still clinging to Him, or have we drifted away?

1 Peter 2:9 – We, as believers, are a royal priesthood, chosen by God.

Introduction
It was a bitterly cold morning in January. A construction crew was working on a towering bridge outside Pittsburgh. Among them was a man named James—a strong, seasoned worker who had spent over twenty years building structures that seemed to touch the sky. He was the kind of man who took pride in his strength. He was known for his ability to carry what others could not, push through what others would avoid. His nickname on the site was “Iron Man.”

But that day, everything changed.
As James stepped onto a steel beam high above the ground, he felt something snap—not the beam, but his own leg. His knee buckled. He collapsed, helpless. He dangled from his harness, unable to pull himself back to safety. He called for help, his voice trembling. The men scrambled to rescue him, and after what felt like hours, they pulled him to solid ground. He was rushed to the hospital, his leg shattered beyond easy repair.

James was devastated. The doctors told him he might never work construction again. His strength—the very thing that defined him—was gone.

He spiraled into depression. He felt useless. Weak. Broken.
But in his weakness, something happened. A friend from work, a Christian man James had often mocked, visited him. He didn’t come with pity; he came with a Bible. He shared about Jesus—the One who carried the weight of the world’s sin when we could not, the One who offers grace when our strength fails.

He read 2 Corinthians 12:9:
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’”

James, the Iron Man, broke down in tears. He realized he had built his life on his own strength, but now—now he had nothing. And it was in that nothingness that he finally met Jesus.

Today, James walks—slowly, with a limp—but with a heart full of faith. He says, “My body is weaker, but my soul has never been stronger. Christ’s power rests on me. His grace saved me.”

This truth is not just for our intellectual understanding but for our daily living. It is a declaration that Jesus Christ is our way of escape from every affliction—whether sin, suffering, oppression, or death itself. His grace is not merely available; it is sufficient—more than enough—to carry us through our deepest valleys.

Today, we will anchor our hearts on this truth:
God’s power is made perfect in our weakness because Jesus is alive and still working miracles among us.

Sermon Introduction
Several years ago, I heard the story of a man named Karl. He was a successful businessman, respected by his peers, admired by his family, and envied by many. By all outward appearances, Karl had mastered life. He had carefully charted his course—every step seemed calculated and controlled. Wealth, influence, and security were his.

But what no one knew was that Karl’s heart was deeply restless. His achievements masked an emptiness that gnawed at his soul. He felt he had to maintain control—over his future, his success, his image. He believed, like so many, that his destiny was his to create.

One night, while driving home from a corporate event, Karl took an unfamiliar route. He was confident in his navigation skills. The road was winding, but he pressed on. However, the farther he went, the darker it became. His GPS lost signal, and he was left relying on his own instincts.
Suddenly, the road narrowed. He ignored the warning signs. He thought, I know where I’m going. I don’t need guidance.

Moments later, his car skidded on loose gravel. He lost control. The vehicle flipped down an embankment and came to rest upside down. Broken, bleeding, and trapped, Karl cried out—not to his wealth, not to his power, not to his plans—but to God.

“I can’t do this anymore! Help me!”

Rescuers later found him and saved his life. But Karl was changed. He realized that his entire life had been like that road. He had trusted in himself and nearly perished. From that day forward, Karl surrendered the direction of his life to Christ. He found the peace he had never known—because he was no longer trying to steer his own life.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, we gather today under the authority of God’s Word to consider a truth that shatters the pride of man and lifts up the sovereignty of our great God.

Jeremiah 10:23 stands as a declaration of dependence:
“I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.”

This is not a suggestion; it is an eternal reality. We are not the captains of our souls, nor the masters of our fate. The notion that we can control our lives is an illusion—a lie whispered from the serpent in Eden.

Our paths, when left to ourselves, lead to destruction. But God, through Christ Jesus, has made a way of escape. He is our Good Shepherd, and apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5).

As we open our hearts to this message, I pray that chains of pride, self-reliance, and rebellion would be shattered. That we would be led to the cross, where Jesus—our Deliverer—makes a way for all who surrender.

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law… If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.”

Introduction:
Imagine a man living in a war-torn country. Every morning, he faces a choice between two paths to work. One road leads through a peaceful neighborhood, free from danger. The other takes him through a violent war zone, where chaos, corruption, and death surround him. The right choice seems obvious—take the safe road and avoid destruction.

Yet, strangely, this man often finds himself walking through the war zone. He knows the dangers. He has seen others wounded, captured, and even killed. Still, something inside him keeps drawing him back to the path of destruction. It is familiar. It is what he has always known.

One day, an elderly wise man stops him and asks, “Why do you keep choosing this dangerous path when the peaceful one is right in front of you?”

The man sighs, “I don’t know… It feels like something inside me won’t let me choose the right path.”

The wise man replies, “Inside you, there are two voices—one leading to life, the other to destruction. The voice you listen to will determine your destiny.”
This story is not just about a man in a war-torn country—it is about us. Every day, we face the same choice. There are two roads before us: one leads to walking in the Spirit, full of life, peace, and power. The other leads to walking in the flesh, a life of struggle, temptation, and defeat.

The Apostle Paul speaks to this in Galatians 5:16 (ESV):
“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”
The question is: Which road are you walking today?

This afternoon, I want to talk about the importance of walking by the Spirit. Many believers live in defeat because they are trying to live the Christian life in their own strength. But the key to victory is not striving harder—it is surrendering to the Holy Spirit.

As we dive into God’s Word, we will discover how to walk in the Spirit, overcome the flesh, and live the victorious life Christ has called us to. Let’s pray and prepare our hearts to receive His truth today.

Introduction: The Taste of …Goodness in the Midst of Tragedy
There was a man named David, a devoted husband and father of three. His life was steady, his job secure, and his faith in God was strong. He often testified of God’s goodness, thanking Him for his home, family, and health. But one day, everything changed.

David received a phone call that shattered his world—his wife and two of his children had been in a car accident. By the time he reached the hospital, the doctors gave him the worst news a man could ever hear: his wife and youngest son had not survived.

Grief consumed him. The weight of pain was unbearable. How could a good God allow this? How could the same lips that once praised God now even whisper His name?

For weeks, David sat in darkness, refusing to open his Bible, refusing to pray. He questioned everything he had once believed. Then, one evening, as he sat alone in his son’s empty room, his oldest daughter, only ten years old, walked in. With tears in her eyes, she placed her small hand on his and said,

“Daddy, do you still believe God is good?”
David had no words. He wanted to say yes, but his heart wasn’t sure. Seeing his hesitation, his daughter reached into her pocket and pulled out a piece of chocolate.

“Taste this, Daddy,” she said.
Confused but wanting to comfort his daughter, David took the chocolate and placed it in his mouth. It was sweet, rich, and familiar.
Then she looked up at him and said something that changed his life forever:

“Even when you can’t see it, even when it doesn’t feel like it, the chocolate is still sweet. God’s goodness is the same.”

At that moment, something broke inside David. He realized that God’s goodness isn’t based on circumstances. It doesn’t change when life hurts. It remains constant, just like that chocolate—sweet, rich, and unshaken.
Tears streamed down his face as he held his daughter close.

That night, he opened his Bible for the first time in weeks and found himself in Psalm 34:8: “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”

David’s journey through grief didn’t end that night, but something shifted. He no longer questioned whether God was good—he knew He was.
Just like David, many of us struggle to see God’s goodness when life is painful. But God’s goodness is not determined by our emotions or circumstances—it is His very nature. We are called to taste and see, to experience it for ourselves.

Today, we will dive into Psalm 34:8 and discover:
What it truly means that God is good.
How we can live in His goodness daily.
How to continually see and experience His goodness, even in trials.
God’s goodness is real, and it’s waiting for us to taste and see. Will you take that step today?

Introduction:
There was once a young boy who was separated from his family during a devastating storm. The wind howled, trees fell, and houses collapsed. The child …wandered through the wreckage, frightened and alone, searching for a place of safety. Strangers tried to help him, offering food and shelter, but nothing felt like home. His heart longed for only one thing—to be with his family, where he truly belonged.

Then, one day, as he walked through the ruins, he heard a familiar voice call his name. It was his father! At that moment, he knew he was safe. It wasn’t the walls of a house that made him secure; it was the presence of the one who loved him most.

Many of us are like that boy, searching for security in the things of this world—money, relationships, success—but these things can crumble like houses in a storm. True security, true peace, and true belonging can only be found in God, our dwelling place.

The Context of Psalm 90
